Posts highlighting the dangers of radon.

grandparents, people that I loved

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

It’s all about the love!

Chocolate and flowers are good…let’s think of something more…he/she comes home, holds your hand and says,

I wanna make you smile whenever you’re sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
I’ll get you medicine when your tummy aches
Build you a fire when the furnace breaks
In our home you will feel safe
A radon system you will embrace
All I Wanna Do Is Grow Old With You!!!

“The Wedding Singer” is a great Valentine’s Day movie! I’m sure all you hopeless romantics recognized those lyrics. Of course, I added a couple of lines.

Install a Radon System in your home, keep your loved ones safe, grow older together!

Just a little info on the photo…this is my Grandma & Grandpa Jim. Back in the day, it would have been seen as falling in love late in life. They were the picture of love!!!
They began traveling in an RV, then opened a gift shop, “Vans”, in Stover,  MO.  Believe it not,  people from all over the world traveling to the Ozarks, Branson, and Table Rock Lake stopped at their shop to by souvenirs. What they didn’t know, they were also going to be entertained. Grandma played the organ/piano, moving with
the music from one end of the piano bench to the other, while Grandpa Jim sang and interacted with the audience. They put on quite the show!!!
When I think of love, they immediately come to my heart!!!

What is radon? A boring but important concern!

There are still many people that do not know what radon is or that it is the #1 cause of lung cancer among non-smokers. I get those calls almost daily and my immediate reaction is alarm. Then I put it into perspective and realize if not for being in the radon business, I too might not be in the know. Therefore, I will do my due diligence
and list a few radon facts, plain and simple.

1. Radon comes from the natural decay of uranium in the soil.

2. Radon gas decays into radioactive particles and can be trapped in your lungs when you breathe. As the particles break down further, they release small bursts of energy. This can cause damage to lung tissue and may lead to lung cancer.

3. Homes,  new or old,  have the potential to show elevated levels of radon.

4. Misconception:   A home closed up for a long period of time will test higher than a home under normal usage.  Radon reaches its highest potential level within about 12 hours of being closed up.

5. Radon fluctuates,  it does not maintain a constant level.

6. Nearly any home can be fixed. A home with a radon system is a home with an additional safety feature.

7. A radon system is roughly the cost of a new hot water heater. However,  a new hot water heater will not save your life,  although,  at times you may think so!

The invisible boogeyman…it’s not under the bed, not in the closet, you can’t see it, you can’t smell it, you can’t taste it or hear it, but it’s there.

Milo is the happiest dog!

Just like the Kenny Chesney song says…we all want to go to heaven, just don’t wanna go right now!

Look at that cute face, that is Milo.   I cannot express how much he is missed everyday.  June 4, 2014 marked one year ago Milo, went to wait for us on the rainbow bridge. There were very few places Milo did not accompany me, on foot, in vehicle, on lawn mower,  even on the seadoo! Milo made me smile, laugh and relax.

Whether canine or human, we try to keep our family members safe and healthy.

Yes, sadly, death is imminent, but we can all work towards putting it on the back burner.

There is still a high percentage of non believers regarding radon or maybe they are fatalists. I am not using the term fatalist in a derogatory way,  I’ve been called that before. Sometimes we take risks, rock climbing, paragliding, sky diving, to experience the extreme. I get it!

Lung cancer is not an adrenaline rush. Install a radon system, no worries mon!

I urge you to visit the website and listen to the family members of the people who have or have had radon induced lung cancer.

Radon is the #1 cause of lung cancer among non-smokers. Remember you can protect your family from radon!

The 2014 International Radon Symposium is September 28 – October 1 in Charleston, South Carolina. Included in the highlights will be the discussion of the continuing radon research, more than 26 scientific abstracts were submitted by scientists from 8 countries. Radon research is not diminishing.

does radon cause wrinkles? let's find out

War on Wrinkles!!!

Goes to show you, you can’t believe every sign you see on the highway, exit here for the fountain of youth, if only it were true!

Let’s face it ladies, we worry about wrinkles! We spend $$$ on treatments, products, vitamins etc. to help eliminate the signs of aging.  We exercise our body, we even exercise our facial muscles which is quite entertaining. We lather ourselves in lotion
day and night.  So  what is the invisible wrinkle?  RADON

Imagine radon in your home, unless you are holding your breath while in your house, the radon alpha particles are attacking your lungs,  changing your DNA…making wrinkles so to say. These wrinkles are not visible from the outside, so why do we care???

Radon causes LUNG CANCER! In fact it is the #1 cause of lung cancer among non smokers!

Just sayin…the cost of a radon system will get you maybe 6 facials. Girls, don’t give up all those wonderful facials, maybe just 6, one here, one there and before you know it you have the $$$ to have a radon system installed in your home!

We do need to pamper ourselves though, so the next time you indulge try the hydra facial…it is amazing!

Love your family and yourself!   Be a happy camper above ground!

Anti Radon Robin

Protecting Your Stompin’ Grounds

I am a lover of all creatures big and small, wild and tame. A dead animal in the road, I apologize for the unfortunate demise of that creature.
When I can, all bugs are captured and released. Yes, I am overboard!

The first morning, afternoon and early evening I didn’t think much of the robin attacking his reflection in the window. The next couple of days he would find wax paper,
foil streamers, blue painter’s tape, nothing worked, we even found him peeking around the obstacles to find the other male robin. My emotions had changed from sad to
perplexed to annoyed. He was persistent, after all, he was protecting his mate, their nest and their soon to arrive babies. After two weeks, he is gone.
I can’t help but wonder if the window decor gave him the feeling of victory or defeat. The male robin could see his nemesis, so to speak, and wanted only to protect.

For the most part, we as humans want to protect our mate, our children, our home. Sometimes, we can not see our nemesis. Radon is not visible and does not have an
odor, it is our danger, testing for it is the only sure way of finding if it is invading your home and harming your family.

Just like the robin we must protect our stompin’ grounds and those we love!

We will help you with any radon issues, we look forward to talking to you!
