Quality Assurance
Ensuring quality over test results is important and our lab provides the highest integrity of analysis for testing.
Laboratory Services:
We are a certified AC primary laboratory and offer services to environmental companies with 24-48 hour turn around (once we have retrieved the radon devices or detectors).
Detailed Reporting
The reporting we provide clients regarding radon testing results are delivered in high industry standards and have full validity for inclusion in documentation for real estate transactions.

Accurate Testing Methods
We have multiple ways to test for radon, as follows:
- Short Term Test – The short-term radon tests we perform have a testing period of 48 to 72 hours. The two day testing period is the quickest way to test for radon (48 hours is the minimum period required to conduct a valid test).
- This is the test predominantly used for real estate transactions, as test results are needed quickly for the inspection period specified in residential real estate contracts.
- Long Term Test– Long term testing periods run from 90 days - 365 days. As radon levels may fluctuate during seasons and from day to day. A long-term test will produce a reading that is more likely to represent the homes year round average radon level; a more global view of radon levels in the home.
- Post-Remediation Test – Once a mitigation system has been installed in a home, then a follow up test is conducted to verify successful remediation and that radon levels are low. We recommend that homeowners should test every 2 years to ensure safe living conditions.
Note: Mid America Radon is a certified and experienced radon testing and mitigation company (serving the Midwest since 1987). We are fully-certified by AARST-NRPP (American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists and National Radon Proficiency Program) for radon testing and mitigation.

Active Radon Removal Systems
According to EPA Guidelines, an active radon removal system is needed whenever indoor radon readings are 4.0pCi/L or greater.
The most popular and usually the most reliable method of reducing radon in structures is called “Active Soil Depressurization” or simply Subslab ventilation.
With this method, a suction pipe is inserted through the basement floor slab into the gravel or soil underneath the house. This vent pipe rises from the basement area and leads to the exterior where the radon is vented to the atmosphere to dissipate harmlessly.
The vent pipe has an inline fan installed which produces suction under the floor slab thereby greatly reducing radon levels in your home. Cost for installing a radon mitigation system can vary with your home. A single fan will typically reduce the radon levels in the structure by 80-99%. Contact Us Today to Discuss your Project.

Accurate Testing Methods for Commercial Properties
We have multiple ways to test for radon, as follows:
- Short Term Test – have a testing period of 48 to 72 hours. This two-day testing period is the quickest way to test for radon (48 hours minimum required to conduct a valid commercial test).
- Long Term Test– a longer testing period that runs from 90-365 days. Radon levels may fluctuate seasonally and from day-to-day. Choosing a long-term test produces a reading that is more representative the property's year-round average radon level.
- Post-Remediation Test – Once we have installed your commercial mitigation system, then we conduct a follow-up test to verify a successful remediation and that radon levels are low. We recommend a new test every 2 years to ensure safe conditions at the property.
Commercial Mitigation Systems
Commercial Radon Mitigation for Kansas City since 1987
For commercial properties, particularly where HUD is involved, radon testing is frequently required. For properties testing above HUD guidelines, a commercial radon mitigation system will be required.
According to EPA Guidelines, an active radon removal system is needed whenever indoor radon readings are 4.0pCi/L or greater.
